The ICOM Working Group on Collections in Storage, the International Committee for Museum Architecture and Technology (ICAMT) and Sorbonne Nouvelle University are organising an international conference in Paris from 29 to 31 October to address global challenges in the field of museum storage.
This event builds on the results of an international survey on museum reserves conducted by the working group and published by ICOM. The aim of the conference is to bring together experts and researchers to discuss the current state of museum reserves, which play a central role in museum operations, and to discuss the most pressing challenges in this area. Nearly 100 speakers from different countries will appear in plenary sessions and five parallel sessions to address topics such as the current state and organisation of depots, innovative management solutions, mediation strategies, new depot concepts and the future role of collections in museums.

The aim of the conference is to promote the exchange between experts and researchers in order to shed light on the challenges and developments in the field of museum storage. The almost one hundred speakers will discuss topics in various sessions that were defined in the conference announcement and which attracted over 200 submissions of contributions.
