Kunstdepot Darmstadt
The constructed four-storey building was designed as a collection centre. In addition to its main function of preserving art and cultural assets, it also provides space for the maintenance of collections and the preparation of exhibitions. This building is the new home for the art treasures of several institutions, including the Mathildenhöhe Institute, the Darmstadt City Archive, the International Music Institute, the Jazz Institute and the State of Hesse. It is used to store large objects, paintings, small sculptures, graphics and paper, as well as files, photographic and film material.
For this major art depot project in Darmstadt, ArtStore in collaboration with our partner Archibald, supplied a ceiling-mounted DL-100 tensile system with 126 double-sided sliding panels, two versions of our Art Gallery compact system with a total of 38 pull-out grids and two fixed wall grids. The impressive total hanging area of all the systems is around 2,000 m2.
